Land of the Living

This post is set to a song (listed as the title of this post) by Roo Panes. Just know from now on, that is how I will be structuring my posts!

I am writing this super late, so forgive me! I wanted to post everyday, but I have been coming home in the evening so tired that I fall asleep on my laptop...

I flew into NYC yesterday morning at around 9:30 am and proceeded to take a Lyft to my cousin, Sarah's, apartment in Brooklyn. She is in this neighborhood called Bed Stuy which is super cute! Sarah said it reminds her of the avenues in SLC except the streets here are flat. I completely agree.

We walked through the streets of Brooklyn and I was so excited with how incredibly diverse it is here! So far I have hear Hebrew, Creole, Arabic, and so many other languages and dialects I am not familiar with. I read somewhere that Queens (north of Bed Stuy) is the most diversely lived area of the world, with over 100 different languages being spoken there. I love it so much, to think that everyone is accepted here in NYC and no race or religion has priority over the other.

Everyone walks everywhere, drinks at various coffee shops, and most read books in still moments. I feel like everyone is content with doing this alone too... I know that it is more uncommon to go places alone in Utah. Or maybe that is just how I feel. I usually want to go somewhere and have another person with me,

I have had some realizations while being here for a few days.

1. Avocado Toast is a thing
2. So are Smoothie bowls
3. Jaywalking is just the right thing to do
4. Getting around in New York is just so much easier on the Subway.
5. There is a RIGHT way to make a killer veggie burger.

I realize that most of those have to do with food and transportation. I guess that is just the theme of the day. You walk everywhere and eat along the way. At least, that is what I did.
